Inner Cave by L. M. Montes

Caves hide darkness
in vast shadows–

creatures from within
lurk behind the mind’s eye–

two steps forward
three steps back–

now to face it
but risk attack–

inner caves thus sit in silence
forever grieving with no healing,
stuck in mind mud–
no way out–
life’s decisions pushed you out.
