Life at a Slant

Do you feel as though life is nothing but a journey uphill? Do you feel as though running downhill for a change would feel real nice? Stop. Not so fast. When your journey in life is a constant uphill struggle, are you learning along the way? On the other side of that hill, if you are running downhill at a constant momentum, are you learning along the way? Or are you going so fast that those opportunities to learn soar right by at the speed of light?

Love Beseeches by L. M. Montes

A sea of indifference bobbed
upon waves of unknowing
where life would lead,
currents snatched with need
and hunger overflowing
’til life from all were robbed.

From depths goodness reaches
smoothing waves of worry
when life grows weary,
hands above guide clearly
without swells or hurry
but with love beseeches.

I Shouldn’t Have Blinked by L. M. Montes

Life crept steady when I was little,
speed took a seat for just a while,
days morphed into weeks morphed
into months morphed into years,
then looking back I wondered
where childhood skipped to,
time gazed back, threw me a wink,
then I realized I shouldn’t have blinked.

He Is Risen

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Life and Hunger Intertwined

In life we grow hungry for joy, love, peace, success, and food. Hunger is a part of life from which we gain sustenance.

Life’s Chase by L. M. Montes

Life walked by and told to sit
so I could grasp and take a hold,
but then as fingers touched its sleeve,
it turned and ran before I bit.

I dashed and followed, giving chase
in hopes of catching what is mine,
but then as I drew close and near,
life turned and told me “in your face.”

Then I tripped into a shallow well
of self and pity as I had failed,
but then a flower before me grew,
my life was mine, I would prevail.

Sometimes life throws many mountains at us. Do we stand and look at them then turn away? Or do we latch on to them, climb them, and rejoice when we’ve reached the top?

Time by L. M. Montes

Time is a circle
round and round
never ending,
at times we stand our ground
but moving forward
forever future bound,
listening then shifting
attention this way and that
to find the reason for a sound,
finding nothing
strolling along life’s journey
and learning lessons found.

Life’s Soccer Field

Life is a soccer field. We have goals to reach. There are ideas we kick around on our run toward our goal. Yes, sometimes we are thwarted by life working against us. We stumble and fall. But then we get back up, work our ideas in a new direction, maneuver around life or do a fake out if need be, then we run head long toward the goal. If someone is there to stop you, try again.
