The Hidden Scepter: Time Series (book 3)

The last four years have been quite an adventure writing the 3rd book in my Time Series. It’s gone through revisions, complete deletions, and now the editing process is in full swing. Even though it is 3rd in a series, the story itself circles back around in parts to the first two books. Because of this, when The Hidden Scepter comes out this coming November 2026, books 1, 2, and 3 will be a trilogy within a series. The name of the trilogy will be The Sapphire Trilogy. Then I will begin writing the next trilogy in the Time Series.

Future Projects

My co-author and I have also been working on another short story collection. We’re about six stories deep and going strong. Updates on that will follow later this year. Also stirring in our minds is a cozy mystery. I started that one, was deep in chapter 1, then deleted it and set it aside. Why? Because I felt it could be better than what was there. After re-reading it, it sounded too blah to me. It needed a better setting. It needed more of a hook. So that book is brewing on the back burner of my mind and will be for while.

Current Happenings

Birthday bashes, new books coming down the pike, becoming part of an association of fellow authors, and other happenings have been keeping this girl very busy. I am close to finishing book three in my Time Series, and I’m in the first part of book 4. Other writing projects include the beginning of a cozy mystery series in coming months. Right now books 3 & 4 in the Time Series takes a front seat.

I also make beaded jewelry. What does that have to do with writing? A ha! So glad you asked. In the coming couple of months I will be giving away a bracelet with purchase of a book at my book signings. These free bracelets represent the gems found in my stories. They are made with Preciosa crystals, whereas the gems in my books are real. That’s the first part of this project. For the second part, I will be making jewelry using genuine gemstones represented in my books and putting them on my table at craft shows for sale.

My jewelry name is Jewelry By Marlisa. So within that brand will be what I am calling my Time Series line of jewelry. This will link both my books and jewelry together.

The Veil of Time

Tora Jasper arrives home in East Tawas, Michigan after a long drive from Norfolk, Virginia. Doing so reminds her of the tragedy that befell her parents a year ago, so she doesn’t want to stay too long. She wants to finish with her parents’ affairs and get back to Virginia. However, her friend and fate have different plans for her, so she stays…. for now. But, while going through her parents’ belongings, she uncovers a discovery that turns her world upside down.

In the meantime, she meets Kyle Stevens and John Cummings and discovers her connection to them goes beyond the here and now. Through them she soon discovers more clues that lead not only to more secrets about her family and herself but also to a whole other world and a quest to go with it. The journey won’t be easy. Her adversary, the Black Mamba, is there at every turn threatening her whole existence. It isn’t just him but the darkness he represents. She finds a calm in the darkness, and it scares her.

Will Kyle help her stay in the light and be the protector he claims to be, or will she succumb to the darkness? After all, he has his own secrets. At first, it goes well, but when Tora, Kyle, and John hit a snag, something goes very wrong. Soon they are in a race against time.

The Cross’s Key

The fate of Kyle Stevens hangs in the balance after blacking out in the Cave of Treasures and waking up to find himself in another realm and an historical event playing out in front of him. The horror brings him to his knees. Then an elusive and long forgotten relic from his past presents itself again, reminding him of unfinished business. Just when he thought life couldn’t get worse, memories he didn’t know he had, surface, along with a life or death quest he must undertake.

But the evil angel, Lord Ladonnis, has another plan for Kyle, one that could cost him his soul.

Kyle loves his teaching career and his life the way it is, but the more he ignores the quest, the closer Lord Ladonnis gets and the more his past and present collide.
