Vanished by L. M. Montes

A memory,
A thought,
In the foreground of your mind,
It sits awhile and lingers
In the glow before your eye.

Moments tease,
Others please,
In the foreground of your mind,
They sit awhile and linger
But your memories said goodbye.

You’re older,
You languish,
In the background of your mind,
You sit awhile and linger
To await a past that died.

Sorrow by L. M. Montes

The deepest sorrow ever felt,
was when true love had
come and knelt,
then kissed my hand and blew away,
and clutched my heart but would not stay.

Coffee and a Book by L. M. Montes

Photo by Taryn Elliott on Pexels.com

You woke one morning to rain-drop spatter
A chill in the air did nip,
Out the window wind whipped,
The day now does not matter.

To the kitchen sluggish feet shuffle
Timed coffee now is pouring,
Aroma floats and tickles the nose,
You grab a book and a truffle.

The office and work the rain it took
Home soothed you so much better,
So get your blanket and bundle up
To coffee and a book.

The Time Piece by L. M. Montes

Photo by RP Singh on Pexels.com

You placed me in my room
through a wall when punched with doom,
and on the floor I lie
with pain and marks of gloom.

I woke to tick tock tick
on a ground of cold dank brick,
A clock it caught my eye
with a face of blood and grit.

In the heat my heart it froze
when horror it did grow,
the gush and ooze of red
from the time piece it did flow.

The Ride by L. M. Montes

I sat a top a horse and rode
on fields wet with dew,
a mist it hit me in the face
as my head thought of you.

Love’s Journey by L. M. Montes

Our love, a ruby crown
On high that soars in the breeze,
Grows aloft,
But no one ever sees.

Through pink cotton mist
With rubies above so adorned,
Walk with me
For our future there is born.

On eagles’ wings we fly
Our souls locked with love
For today, today
Our love carries us high above.

Time’s window of love, everlasting,
Passes fleet footed then gone in half minute’s time,
Hurry, hasten with me
Or remain ever repentant.

The joyful village of our hearts,
Beyond the beauty glistens,
Stay and venture to long lost gifts,
For which only you are smitten.

The Casket Tree by L. M. Montes

Photo by Felix Mittermeier on Pexels.com

In the forest stands a fingered tree,
With leaves and prickles that snatches me,
I stop and stare, its spell it casts,
And a wind doth blow the strongest blast.

Now out I gaze with unmoving eyes,
Upon the next victim who saunters by,
My leaves they prickle and snatches thee
As you pass by the casket tree.

Magnetized by L. M. Montes

Photo by Cole Keister on Pexels.com

Within the eyes lies
the soul that
magnetizes the heart
and pulls you in.

Resist, you can not
pull away from him
whose eyes draw
you forth into them.

Against his chest
you lay your head
as he lifts your chin
for a gentle kiss.

Freedom: An American Poem by L. M. Montes

Photo by Frank Cone on Pexels.com

Turn your eyes up to the sky,
the sun shoots you a glint,
a light, a warmth, a tender smile,
from beams of perfect mint.

A gray that creeps and grows,
now reaches with its clutches,
its evil now it plants and sows,
and grabs all that it touches.

Its messages now blacken,
the lightening strikes the soul,
a crack, a thunder, morals slacken,
the attitudes are coal.

But the eagle now takes flight,
its wings woosh guiding light,
to We The People in the night,
who now will stand and fight!

You Are The Sun by L. M. Montes

Photo by Sachin C Nair on Pexels.com

Your light it shines and warms the hearts
of family and friends who never part,
though unpredictable you be,
you sparkle through the clouds to me.

On days of gray and rain that spatters
warmth you give cause none of that matters,
however blurred your beams are splotched,
your radiance to my heart does touch.
