Elusive Scent by L. M. Montes

A scent so sweet swept o’er to me,
across the tides of breezes be,
I tried to grab and snatch it close,
but through my fingers it left and rose
up to the sky and blow away,
to come again another day.

Words Bitter Sweet Sound by L. M. Montes

Spattering words, a nothingness pushed forth,
rang in my ears and flew out the door,
all that’s left is the droning of sound,
from mouths speaking nothing
but words spewed aground.

You want me to listen,
so get your facts straight,
instead of pure nothing
filled with all hate.

God’s gentle nudging grew words from your lips,
and sang to my heart, then to my finger tips,
now life is filled with meaning profound,
from mouths sprinkling something
so rich with sweet sound.

You want me to listen,
you got your facts straight,
instead of pure nothing,
you weren’t filled with hate.

The Shadow by L. M. Montes

In far reaches of the mind,
lies the fear that makes one blind,
stiffen from a shadow seen,
and grips the breath so staunch and mean,
blood invades, a stench so rank,
from deep inside, so hearts they sank,
but then a blip of light shown through,
revealing eyes so dead from you,
the shadow’s shroud now covered,
the whole of all who hovered,
they will never be the same,
as from your body a spirit came.

The Path by L. M. Montes

In morning’s mist I stroll,
along a path that widens,
then narrows to grab hold,
my whole as if I’m hiding,
be strong and be so bold,
in life there is no sliding,
splendor is never seen,
if we cease to try our road,
like an outstretched hand so keen,
we grasp or dump the load,
so take my hand and ever lean,
with help success will bode.

The Cross We Bear by L. M. Montes

Sin is but a shadow
that lingers when we fail,
a monkey hanging on our backs
when our life sets sail.

We cannot let it go
no matter what we do,
just look to Christ your Savior
because he died for you.

Silk Words by L. Montes

Letters form on ruthless tongues so sweet,
singing words of love from hardened hearts,
hoping one day you and I may meet,
living ever after ne’er to part.

But you mean not these words of silk,
just stringing letters from hardened hearts,
laughing with intent to bilk,
leaving souls as empty parts.

Still by L. M. Montes

A storm erupts and stirs the waters at will,
Then the Lord is there and says, “Be still.”
In one’s life our problems draw a chill,
Again the Lord is there and comforts still.
A peace we feel when we are in His will.
Stay close to Him and pray, just be still.

Pride by L. M. Montes

Against the wind one pushes forth,
with fight and footsteps heading north,
an arctic breeze inside it grabs
a hold of bones
the heart it stabs.

How to stop this hardship now,
just ask for help, to you it bows,
no and no for help is forbidden,
to do for oneself
so they’ll be forgiven.

The Two Faced Fool by L. M. Montes

Oh how pretty someone said,
until they bit them with a thought,
then said person turned to say,
oh thank you thank you,
you made my day.
Walk away walk away
with maliceful smile,
hugging and shaking hands
all the while,
inside you are scratching,
your mind springs forth spite,
ready to leap at a chance for a fight.
But in the end waves of coolness set in,
bringing you down a notch,
to comfort within.
