Weather’s War by L. M. Montes

The rising sun kissed the horizon
peeking shyly above the edge of Earth,
as it climbs in steady gait,
beaming arms of light ready themselves
to slice through the day.

Clouds compete,
and waft across the sun,
arresting light till the day is done.

Then in gusts wind blows its breath,
and rescues sun’s beams glory light.

On and on this fight is fought,
until the elements blame and gust,
not caring who below it harms,
as long as all get what they want.

The Light That Shines

In an ever darkening and dangerous world, an evil exists pulling life increasingly downward by a thread. With a slow pull so minute one can not perceive the movement, yet it is there. The thread is so thin it is almost invisible. Humans run and scurry from the danger. Thinking lacks. Running overtakes. Words spew from evil’s mouth, and many believe the words without thinking about what the evil words are saying. Division cuts the culture like a knife caused by the evil from within. Anger and rage sweep many. They turn on one another. Why? No reason, other than they believe the evil darkness of lies that are sickening the many.

BUT…a light shines within the soul of all men. This light comes from words of love, kindness, encouragement, and acts encompassing these light filled words. BE A LIGHT IN SOMEONES DAY. Spread joy. Earth is filled with a multitude of different people. Coming together, instead of allowing ourselves to be divided, is who we really are. Learn from one another. Hold the door open for someone. Tell someone they look nice. Say hi to somebody. Help out in your community. If you don’t know what you can do, ask someone. These words and actions of love and kindness shine a ‘light’ much much brighter than any evil that tries to break them down. I LOVE YOU ALL.

Numbers 6:24-26
“The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.”

Evening’s Light to Darkness by L. M. Montes

With slowness I walk,
a dimness so gray,
the air is a coolness,
that lasted all day.
Low hung the clouds,
the darkness reached down,
then sprung back and faded,
as the air moved around.
Lighter grew the evening,
and air warmed the soul,
and hung but just a moment,
’til evening turned to coal.

Freedom: An American Poem by L. M. Montes

Turn your eyes up to the sky,
the sun shoots you a glint,
a light, a warmth, a tender smile,
from beams of perfect mint.

A gray that creeps and grows,
now reaches with its clutches,
its evil now it plants and sows,
and grabs all that it touches.

Its messages now blacken,
the lightening strikes the soul,
a crack, a thunder, morals slacken,
the attitudes are coal.

But the eagle now takes flight,
its wings woosh guiding light,
to We The People in the night,
who now will stand and fight!

Let Your Light Shine

Photo by Prashant Gautam on Pexels.com

We all have something to say, and how we say it is unique to us. No one else can say what we want to say in quite the same way. Let’s say for example there are two different people writing on the same exact topic, and they don’t put their names on their paper. They give them to you (you’re blind folded when they give them to you so you don’t know who gave you what), and you read them. Will you be able to tell which paper came from which individual? One’s personality comes through in their writing. If you don’t know the writer personality, would you still be able to tell? Whether or not we know someone doesn’t take away from the fact that their writing is still unique to them.

This uniqueness is your voice, your light. Who you are comes through on the pages. Whether you’re writing in one character or in more than one, your words are the words that are bringing the story to life. Don’t hold back for fear someone might not like it, because, truth be told, there’s always someone out there who won’t. That’s part of life. Put your all into your work. Put your light into it and let it shine.

As a side note here, if you are editing someone else’s work, be careful to not change too much because you run the risk of inserting your unique style into their work, then it won’t be theirs. You don’t want to take away from their voice/style. A better idea would be to suggest the type of change that’s needed, and let them to the changing.
