It varies depending on the person I’m with. I like talking about interests I share with others, like writing and crafting. I love talking about my stories/books and bouncing ideas off of my children. They’re a big help when it comes to that. I also enjoy conversations that move along at a steady pace from one topic to the next. It doesn’t matter what the topics are during conversations like that because the thrill/enjoyment comes from the conversational experience itself.

Risk
Describe a risk you took that you do not regret.
When I was in basic training in the United States Army, we had to do what they called the confidence course. It involved climbing a ladder up to a 30 foot platform, and I do mean climb, because we quite literally had to climb to each rung. Once on the platform we had to repel down a 30 foot wall. Then we had to side step across a ladder made of rope going from a 15 foot tower to a 20 foot platform or catwalk, then lay down on a single rope and pull ourselves back down to the 15 foot platform. Then we had to turn back around and walk up a third type of rope (walk on a single rope while hanging on to two ropes) to the 20 foot catwalk. From the catwalk we had to climb back up a wooden ladder to the 30 foot platform. From there we had to climb down a 30 foot wall by way of rope webbing.
I don’t regret having done this in the least. I was terrified at the time, but I did it. And, now, each time I lack confidence, I think back to that accomplishment. Suddenly, my lack of confidence goes away.

I’m also in real estate. What makes me nervous is having to make phone calls to buyers/sellers.

Random Encounter
Describe a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively to you.
I went to a Subway shop and ordered a sandwich then sat down to eat. An elderly man was in a booth behind mine. He got up to leave, gathered all of his things in a black plastic garbage bag and walked to the door. He was homeless. I had another meals worth on my Subway gift card, so I gave it to him. He was the sweetest man. We talked for a little while and had a nice conversation. I will never forget him.

Describe a decision you made in the past that helped you learn or grow.
My decision to join the United States Navy Reserves. They give you challenges you think you can’t accomplish. Then upon completion of that challenge, you realize you do have the ability to succeed. I have brought that into the civilian world with me. Through it all, I have gained self-confidence in all of my endeavors.
Places Never to Visit
This is a difficult question to answer because, while every place has its downfalls, there are many positives of which I would like to be a part. That having been said, I can only do so much in my life span. At first when I tried to answer this question, I wrote down any war torn country. But then I deleted it because going to a place like that could serve to help people who live there and who are going through touch times.
At the moment I would have to say Russia or maybe even Europe; at least right now. I am an American, so I don’t think it would be wise to go to any of those places. Oh yeah, and definitely not China. They’re beautiful places and nothing against the people in any of those places. But, like I said, I’m an American…

The Opposite Side of Adverb Usage
Adverbs aren’t always bad. There are times when they should be used. If they serve a purpose such as building upon the emotions of a character’s actions, then use them. BUT, be sure to use them sparingly.

“Adverbs, used well, can show motivation, indicate mood, and enrich our imagining of a scene.
I love books that tell it straight because every word pushes me forward. David Rosenfelt is a writer who never disappoints. His Andy Carpenter series features a tenacious lawyer with a dry wit.
The author’s prose is sharp as a knife. Does he use adverbs? Absolutely, though sparingly and they’re always purpose-filled.”
