For real! Sometimes it is unintentional, but some of it is very intentional. It is so disrespectful and they usually get away with it!

I used to work with a lady who was rude and snarky most often to everyone. She got away with it all the time. It boggles my mind.

There is no check on a lot of these people. They are the reason customer service is such a tough job! What would she do?

As a manager, I would tell the staff they must be nice to the customer, no matter what. Being rude does have its consequences. I do believe people overhear what is being said, and if you don’t complain they will for you. Someone was bold about my appearance, and slow about taking my order at a restaurant. He said I was just staring at him, which I didn’t mean to do. I couldn’t figure him out because he was talking, and not working. He was outspoken, observant, and slightly bothersome one time when I was staring too hard. He was loud, and not quiet with the customers. He called me for the staring, and then I was annoyed and I didn’t tell him so. I was upset with him, where Ed who was with me, said he didn’t say anything that was rude. I left, and hoped I wouldn’t have anymore encounters like this. I stopped staring into space, and the person left that store, or he changed his hours. I do believe employees need to be elastic with customers, and give them some room. I don’t often become challenged by an employee. I am observant, and this one noticed. His manner was not acceptable.

I am long over this, and I don’t see this person in that restaurant any more. I try not to stare at anyone now. Smile.

I wrote too much. I did get over this. I don’t stare, even if it isn’t right what the person is doing.
