The sun pushed down a radiant heat,
our brows they wearied but didn’t retreat,
frigid breezes thrust their brutish claws,
our hands embittered but set their jaws,
The middle ground bowed at what was right,
our heads determined to stand and fight.

Courage by L. M. Montes
The door to courage is not locked
but fear stands in the way
of any who must walk through now,
not wait for another day.
Then you take a second glance
and see a gateway open
to anyone who sidesteps fear
with courage and now hoping.
Inwards by L. M. Montes
Past mishaps can sicken you
or they can teach you,
a blessing or burden bound.
Standing on a high taught rope,
legs of jelly tense,
just cross but do not look down.
I can’t, I won’t, don’t make me,
fear it grabs my soul,
but courage it says let go.
